ORGANISATION

LAY PARTICIPATION

St Marys has always had a stong tradition of lay participation in all aspects of parish work. This applies to the PCC organisation, Worship and Lay Ministry.

WORSHIP

A visiting priest commented: "All I have to do is the Absolution and the Consecration - you do all the rest!"

PCC

The PCC is organised as various sub-committees that report back to the PCC. The parish priest is not necessarily a member of any of these sub-committees.
The Churchwardens, Secretary and Treasurer are, however, ex-officio members of all sub-committees.

LAY MINISTRY

With the current workload on our priests, we try to take on as much of the parish work as can be managed. Sick visiting, Baptism preparation, bereavement counselling can all be undertaken by the laity.

EDUCATION

We have an active Sunday School that meets in the Church Hall every Sunday, except during school holidays, at 9.15 am. The children will normally join the congregation for the Communion to receive a blessing at the altar rail.
