AGM
GAMLINGAY GAZETTE

by Graham Virgo

The Annual General Meeting of the Gazette was held on 27th February 2002. The following were present: the Chairman, the Editor, the Treasurer, Mr and Mr. Raeburn and Mr Gorton.

The recent death of Mr. Stuart Pearce was recorded with sadness.

The Treasurer presented her report and the accounts were received and were approved. It was noted that 14 advertisers had ceased to advertise in the Gazette, but they had been replaced with 14 new advertisers. It was further noted that a new computer for the production of the Gazette had been purchased. The advertising rates had not been reviewed since 1995. It was agreed that, with the increased circulation of the Gazette and the need to build up reserves over time so that a replacement computer could be purchased when necessary and bearing in mind the desirability of sometimes producing Gazettes of 20 pages, now was an appropriate time to increase the advertising rates to £52 for 14 months for a single advert and to £104 for a double advert.

The Chairman gave his report. He thanked Claire Twydell for her hard work as Treasurer and as co-ordinator of advertising; Jackie Hough for her excellent work as Editor; Jacky and Philip Raeburn for their work in co-ordinating distribution; and the work of all the distributors.

The Editor gave her report. She thanked Lindy Gorton for producing Green Wellie for over 8 years and thanked Sue Izzard for taking this column over and Roderick Starksfield for putting the Gazette on the internet. She noted that the Gazette was receiving more original pieces and identified new columns for future issues.

Jacky Raeburn gave her report as co-ordinator of distribution. She thanked all of the distributors and particularly thanked Jacqui Hyde for her help. She noted that some of the problems with distribution had been ironed out over the course of the year.

The meeting concluded with Philip Gorton thanking everybody who was involved in the production of the Gazette.
