CHILDREN IN NEED
FLY AND DRIVE-IN 2001

Aroplane
John Jeffries

This year's event will take place on September 2nd from 10am to 6pm at Lt Gransden Airfield.

The flying display is already fully organised and will include the BBMF Lancaster (in its 60th anniversary year), Diana Brittan (1995 British Aerobatic Champion), Angie Soper in the Yak 11, Mustang (display and landing), Hurricane (display and landing), military Auster flight, Chipmunk display, 2 Extra 300's and a RAF Glider.

Also the Cambridgeshire Police Dog display team and the History re-enactment society. Along with the large display of vintage and classic vehicles. So far we have in excess of 150 vintage cars booked.

The Raptor Foundation from St. Ives will also be attending and will be exhibiting its birds of prey.

At present, we are still working on the grand draw prizes, but we hope that the main prize will be a holiday for two to either the USA or the Caribbean!

The entrance fee for this year's event will be £15 per car including all occupants. We have regrettably had to increase the charge due to many factors, including the loss of our main sponsor, increased fuel, insurance, CAA display license fees and other costs. However, we are hopefully going to have sufficient numbers of porta-loos this year. The increased cost of the event therefore reflects the increase in the cost of entrance. We also aim to make a reasonable profit for the BBC "Children in Need" which is one of the few charitable organisations that has a 100% utilisation rate of its donations for good causes. We still think that the day offers extremely good value for money.
