The Show Committee is hard at work preparing for the ninth annual Village Show. Inside this Gazette you should find your copy of the schedule, times and rules of entry, together with entry forms for the competition classes. As you will have seen from the April Gazette, there are some new classes as well as popular old favourites, so do have another look at the schedule and have a go! Each entry will still cost you only 20p! It would help us with administration if entry forms could be left at Gostlings or the College before the 14th September.

Fees and entries can be brought to the College between 9am and 11 am on Show Day. Please note these times, as entries cannot be accepted after 11am. Extra time is needed to write out all the certificates before the show starts!

Despite the high entry costs at other shows, entry remains at £1.50 for adults and 50p for concessions for yet another year! This allows you free access to all the Show attractions at no further cost.

We already have over 100 Classic cars and motor-cycles registered to attend, and entertainment will be provided by the superb Jazz Band and dance displays by the Susan Lucas School of Dance and members of the Line Dancing Club.

Refreshments will range from a Hog Roast and barbecue, to ice-creams and WI teas. Children can enter the Five-a-side Football Tournament, as well as enjoying the fairground rides and side-shows. Why not clear out your loft and garage and have a pitch at the car boot, for only £7? These can be set up from 1pm AND STRICTLY NO TRADERS. Displays include Raptor Owl Foundation [a big hit last year!], model railways, a photographic history of Gamlingay and stalls and displays by local clubs and societies. There will also be children’s races together with other arena events still to be finalised. The competition entries will also be on display in the main hall. Those of you who attended the show last year will remember the somewhat emotional fly-past by a Spitfire and we are hoping to repeat that this year, together with a Hurricane – so pray for good weather!

We are very grateful to Neil Hall of ‘Homes and Mortgages’ who so generously sponsored the Village Show last year. If any other local company would be interested in sponsoring any aspect of the show, please contact us if you feel able to make this specific contribution.

If your club or society would like a stall and haven’t yet received an invitation, please contact Heather Brewer at Gamlingay First School.

Finally, a big plea for HELP - before, during or after the show - would be gratefully received by the committee of seven people, who organise this annual event.

Pray for the same wonderful weather we had last year and see you on the 15th!
