Rainbows Beatiful New Garden

If you haven’t been Rainbowpast Rainbow Playgroup recently - then perhaps you should.

A dedicated team of playgroup mums, dads and children have worked hard re-developing the garden.

A large patio has been laid for the children to ride on, complete with road signs, a sand pit has been dug out and two large painted signs erected. There is also a new swing frame.

Most of the money has been fund raised but a big thank you also goes to Waresley Garden Centre who have kindly donated many of the shrubs and plants.

Rainbow Playgroup are delighted with the results and think it has improved the whole outlook. If anybody would like to find out more about Rainbow Playgroup, then Mavis Draper can be contacted on 01767 650250

There are a couple of vacancies available for September.

SUMMER SEASON Tennis Logo 2000

We had a very well attended and successful Junior Tournament on Sunday llth June.

In all, 32 juniors took part, (only 4 of whom were girls, unfortunately). We played a round robin tournament with each player competing in three matches of three games each. With such large numbers this took nearly five hours to complete. Many thanks are due to the parents, helpers and other spectators who stuck it out for most of the afternoon. The standard of play was extremely high amongst all the age groups which ran from 8 year olds up to 18 year olds. The competitors were grouped into three categories depending partly on their age but also on their level of experience. We should also like to add that the behavior of all the youngsters both on and off the court was exceedingly good.

The winner of each group was awarded a trophy and the runners up received a set of tennis balls.

The results were as follows:-
Group A:
Winner - Robbie Mills
Runner up - Jeremy Smith
Group B:
Winner - Chris Cowell
Runner up - Paul Knowles
Group C:
Winner - Matthew Steele

Gamlingay Bridge Club

This is a new and friendly group, meeting on Friday evenings for a social game of rubber bridge.

At present we meet in each others houses and provide a hot drink and biscuits for refreshment, but if demand exceeds space, we could move to a communal venue.

We would like to invite competent, relaxed players to join us.

If you are interested, please telephone Jacky Raeburn on 01767 650166 for more information.
