W

e arrived here on September 3rd and experienced our first Gamlingay Show last Saturday.

My husband is recovering from a stroke and thoroughly enjoyed the outing. There were plenty of seats around the arena for the tired, footsore and disabled, and Frank soon discovered the bar conveniently near. The entertainments kept adults and children alike happy and occupied all afternoon and the competition and craft displays demonstrated the tremendous wealth of local talent.

The Classic and Vintage cars attracted lots of interest and many enquiries of the ‘Where’s Dad?’ variety. Children roamed happily in groups with hotdogs, ice creams, candyfloss, painted faces and truly horrendous sham scars sending alarmed grandparents reaching for the antiseptic.

Since several caring local inhabitants have been warned that my spouse may get lost I was not surprised when Fay rushed up to report seeing him leave the show with his stick in one hand and a pint of I.P.A. in the other. Happily he did find his way home to our new address very content after a good day out.

BOOK EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT
Annual General Meeting by Graham Virgo

The Annual General Meeting of the Gazette was held on 12th June at the Rectory. Seven people attended. The Treasurer tabled the accounts which were accepted. It was noted with pleasure that advertising revenues continued to be healthy. The Editor of the Gazette reported that things had gone well over the year. She was investigating new software packages. Mr. and Mrs Raeburn commented on the arrangements for distribution of the 1,750 Gazettes; these arrangements were, for the most part, working very well. The Chairman tendered his resignation and recorded his thanks to the Editor, the Treasurer, the Raeburns, all distibutors and organisers for their hard work in the course of the year.
